Artificial Intelligence and the Workforce of Today and Tomorrow

This session will review the Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Act and discuss the challenges employers continue to encounter when employees and job applicants are prescribed medical marijuana.

This session will review various labor & employment updates affecting employers, including recent updates from the Department of Labor, Federal Trade Commission, and other administrative agencies. Practical advice will be offered on keeping up-to-date.

2:45pm - Bumped Up Obligations: Employers' Duties Under the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act and Beyond
Julia M. Herzing

This session will break down employers’ obligations to employees experiencing pregnancy and other pregnancy-related conditions under federal law, including the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA). Specific topics will include (1) reviewing the PWFA and employers’ obligations to pregnant employees; (2) addressing frequently asked questions, including employers’ ability to collect relevant information; and (3) discussing common accommodation requests and the “reasonableness” analysis under the PWFA.

3:45pm - Employers' Guide to Dealing with Problem Employees

While most employees are hard-working and cause employers few to no major issues, at one time or another employers are confronted with a challenging employee whose actions disrupt operations and/or negatively impact employee morale. While every case is different, this session will offer strategies and practical advice on dealing with such employees.
