Knox Law Named a 2026 "Best Of" Winner by The Legal Intelligencer

Posted on August 19, 2026

Knox Law has been voted by the Pennsylvania attorney audience of The Legal Intelligencer as a first-place winner in this year’s “Best Of” readers’ survey. The firm was named the top Labor and Employment Firm in the state, and Hon. Andrew F. Szefi (ret.) was recognized as the second-place winner in the Individual Mediator category.

The Legal Intelligencer’s “Best Of” survey is an annual program that asks Pennsylvania attorneys, in-house counsel, judges, and legal administrators to vote for the products, services, and firms they rely on most. Winners are selected based on the votes of that legal community.

“This recognition for our labor and employment attorneys reflects the exceptional work they do every day for our clients,” said Neal Devlin, President of Knox Law. “Being chosen by our peers in this survey means a great deal to us, and it reflects the trust our clients place in this team.”

Judge Szefi focuses his practice on alternative dispute resolution, including mediation, arbitration, and early neutral evaluation in both federal and state courts, and is a certified mediator for the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. He joined Knox Law after serving as a judge in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County, where he presided over the Class Action docket in the Commerce and Complex Litigation Center as well as Housing Court and the general trial docket. Before taking the bench, he spent ten years as Allegheny County Solicitor, serving as the county's Chief Legal Officer and Director of the Legal Department.

"Having sat on the bench, I understand what both sides are looking for when they come to the table, and that perspective shapes how I approach every mediation," said Szefi. "My goal is always to ensure every party feels heard and gains a clear understanding of the issues. My role is to then guide them toward a resolution they can feel good about. This recognition tells me that approach is resonating with the attorneys and clients I work with, and I'm grateful to everyone who took the time to vote."

Knox Law’s Labor and Employment practice represents employers across a range of industries on matters including workplace policy, compliance, labor relations, and employment litigation. The firm’s ADR Services group offers mediation, arbitration, and early neutral evaluation to help clients resolve disputes outside the courtroom.
