Thomas A. Tupitza Honored as a 2016 "Lawyer of the Year" in Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area

Posted on August 17, 2015

Thomas A. Tupitza was recently honored as a 2016 Best Lawyers® "Lawyer of the Year" in Land Use and Zoning Law for the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. This honor follows his inclusion on the 2016 Best Lawyers in America® list, along with nine other Knox Law attorneys. Mr. Tupitza was named a 2015 Best Lawyers® Lawyer of the Year for Public Finance Law in the same metropolitan area.

According to Best Lawyers, only one lawyer in each practice area in a designated metropolitan area is honored as "Lawyer of the Year." These lawyers are selected based on particularly impressive voting averages received during the exhaustive peer-review assessments conducted with thousands of leading lawyers each year.

Thomas (Tom) Tupitza

Thomas A. Tupitza has been on the Best Lawyers list for the past five years for Public Finance Law; the past two years for Real Estate Law and Land Use & Zoning Law; and was newly selected for Health Care Law for 2016.

A former president of the Pennsylvania Association of Bond Lawyers, Mr. Tupitza's practice is focused on public finance, real estate, health law and nonprofit organizations. He has served as the firm's President since 2007, is AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review Rated, and is active on many boards, including the Erie Regional Chamber and Growth Partnership, UPMC Hamot, and Westminster College.

Inclusion in Best Lawyers is considered an honor because Best Lawyers is based on an exhaustive peer-review survey in which more than 52,000 attorneys cast almost 5.5 million votes on the abilities of other lawyers, and lawyers are not required or allowed to pay a fee to be listed.

Best Lawyers began designating "Lawyers of the Year" in the U.S. in high-profile legal practice areas in 2009.
